halong bay

4.04.2009

thanks to my lovely parents, i was able to take a tour of halong bay while in vietnam. halong bay is a world heritage site comprised of giant limestone formations off the coast of northern vietnam. i visited while it was still winter and mostly everything was covered in an ethereal looking mist that was really pretty and refreshingly cool (thailand is getting HOT).

this is the city near the port where you leave to explore the bay.

the formations keep going as far as you can see; it's like being in another world.

though you can't entirely tell from the picture, this rock formation is actually really huge.
