about jenn

When Jenn was young, a judge at a music competition called her a little mouse that roared. Since then she has tried living up to those words.

She has worked as a counselor for homeless teen mothers in Florida where she only had to dodge one hairbrush thrown in her direction. (Trust us, that’s pretty good.) She’s sure she met some of the kindest people on the planet working at an NGO for women survivors of war in DC. In Boston she analyzed Needle Exchange program data and could be found monitoring HIV-prevention programs in local bars. (If you knew Jenn, the bit about the bars would likely make you giggle.) Most recently she worked on the Thai-Burma border where she strengthened cross-border health care groups’ health information systems, taught English to illegal migrant workers, and fundraised for a malaria prevention organization.

Suffice it to say, Jenn’s part social change maven and part nomad. Right now she is with family in Seattle, but plans to move to New York City this summer to go to public health school.

Jenn loves throwing tea parties, listening to music, painting, and reading. Her favorites include lavender-mint, Yo La Tengo, watercolor, and Vonnegut. You’re likely to find Jenn roaming the streets on a walk with her dog Fey (short for Feynman – yes, she named her dog after her favorite physicist), attempting a yoga pose too advanced for her, making a mess of herself in the kitchen, snapping photographs, or fidgeting. She fidgets a lot.

Jenn is hopelessly idealistic and always up for an adventure.
